AlaEnergies supplies three families of petroleum product across Tanzania: fuels, liquefied petroleum gas and lubricants. Bulk buyers deal with us on contract; households and small businesses buy in the quantities that suit them.

Fuels

The core of the business, supplied in bulk to the trade and across the forecourt to motorists. All of these move through Tanzania’s bulk procurement system, which sets the specification every consignment has to meet.

Petrol (PMS)

Premium motor spirit for cars, light commercial vehicles, motorcycles and small generators. Supplied to service stations and to fleet operators with their own storage.

Automotive gas oil (diesel)

The workhorse fuel of the Tanzanian economy: heavy transport, buses, tractors, construction plant, mining equipment, marine engines and standby generation. Available in bulk deliveries sized to the customer’s tank rather than to our truck.

Illuminating kerosene

For lighting, heating and cooking where gas or electricity has not yet reached, and for industrial uses that call for it.

Jet A-1

Aviation turbine fuel, handled to the same bulk procurement specification as the road fuels.

Heavy fuel oil

For marine engines, large industrial boilers and power generation, where the economics favour a heavier grade.

How fuel quality is protected

Product enters the country through the national bulk procurement system and is subject to the specifications set by the regulator. On top of that we work to a simple rule: what is loaded is what is delivered. Consignments are checked against specification, meters are calibrated, and volumes are recorded at loading and at discharge so that any discrepancy is visible immediately rather than at the end of the month.

LPG

Liquefied petroleum gas for cooking and for process heat, supplied in cylinders and in bulk.

Cylinders

For households, restaurants, hotels, schools and small manufacturers. Cylinders are filled to weight, sealed, and checked for valve condition before they leave us. A cylinder that is under-filled or unsafe is a cylinder we do not sell.

Bulk LPG

For customers with their own installed tank: hotels, hospitals, food processors, and manufacturers using gas for process heat. Delivered by road tanker on a scheduled refill or on call.

Why gas

Most Tanzanian households still cook on charcoal or firewood. Gas is faster, it is cleaner in the kitchen, and it takes pressure off the forests. Moving households onto it is national policy, and it is the part of this business with the most room to grow.

Lubricants

Engine oils, transmission and hydraulic fluids, and greases for the equipment that Tanzania actually runs.

Automotive — engine oils for petrol and diesel vehicles, gear and transmission fluids, brake fluid and coolant
Commercial and heavy duty — oils for trucks, buses, agricultural and construction plant working long hours in heat and dust
Industrial — hydraulic and gear oils, compressor oils and greases for plant and machinery
Generators — oils specified for continuous and standby generating sets

Lubricant choice is not a detail. The wrong oil in a truck working the Central Corridor in the heat is an engine rebuild, so we would rather ask what the machine is and how it is used than sell from a price list.
